IT’S TIME FOR CHANGE~

I took this pic in Praiano, Italy, 2017

It’s SPRINGTIME! Spring is a season of renewal, freshness and a time for change. For most of us, winter is when we retreat indoors seeking comfort from the cold, and it can be a dark time both literally and figuratively. Now it’s time for change! Spring holds the promise that everything can begin again. Everything can begin again. Everyone can begin again. Every time you wake up, you can begin again. Every morning can be a time for change!

DIG DEEP~

Even though spring is a time for new growth, understand that change doesn’t happen overnight. Sometimes it appears as though it happens overnight. It doesn’t. First, you need to look at the world with fresh eyes, and that’s where it starts. Look around. Did you notice the crocuses breaking through the snow two or three weeks ago? Even though it was still so cold, even though there was still snow on the ground, those tiny, delicate little flowers knew there was change in the air. And daffodils knew it was a time for change. They too broke through the bleak, cold, darkness in search of light. Daylight is lasting longer and they are not going to miss the chance to reach for the sun.

New Growth

We too, should assume that every day is an opportunity for new growth, like our little flower friends do.

“Flowers grow out of dark moments.”– Corita Kent

Step outside, go for a walk and notice all the new growth. Watch the world as it refreshes itself. Pay attention to all the fresh new flowers, trees and shrubs in bud; see the colors and smell the scents as they burst with new life! I’m sorry if you suffer from spring allergies that may not allow you to enjoy the scents of spring.

New Life

The symbolism of new life each spring doesn’t apply only to plants and wildlife. It applies to you too. Springtime reminds us that every day is a chance to let go of whatever no longer serves you; things like stress, pressure, anxiety, negative relationships, and toxic job situations. All the aforementioned must be dealt with carefully and with a plan. You can’t just give your boss the finger and walk off. Plans are important here. That’s what I meant when I said that change doesn’t happen overnight. If you need some inspiration check in with my last post titled  “Be a Courageous Woman” about two courageous women who made just such a change.

Check In With Yourself

Just like you would check in with a friend once in a while, you need to do a little self-check a few times a year. Do a little refresher on your lifestyle. What’s working for you? What’s not working for you? What do you want in life? A new job, a different field of work, change your lifestyle, travel (someday, post covid…) a new relationship, healthier eating and exercising? What are your goals?

FOCUS ON THE FUTURE~

Time For Change

Once you decide what your goals are, you need to take action.

  1. Write your goals on a piece of paper and place where you will see them often.
  2. Don’t just wish- research the steps necessary to get what you want and where you want to be.
  3. As @melrobbins says in her Instagram post, “at any single moment you can change your life”.
I was a guest on The Mel Robbins Show

If you have not yet taken steps to move toward your goals, ask yourself why you haven’t. What part of yourself are you afraid to look at? If you’re lacking confidence, feel overwhelmed or are just plain too scared to try, you owe it to yourself to investigate. Read The 5 Second Rule, a book by author Mel Robbins.

I made huge changes in my life after reading The 5 Second Rule. You can too.

Open Your Mind, Your Heart, Your Eyes

Have an open mind, an open heart and be open to changes; embrace new things. “Minds are like flowers; they open only when the time is right.” -Stephen Richards

Be intentional about what you do, who you spend time with and even how you decorate your living space. Create a life that fits you. Don’t try to twist and shape yourself into the life that you think you should be living.

Look To Nature For Inspiration

Spend time outdoors, and better yet, in nature. Even if you prefer the buzz and energy of the city, make an effort to walk in, be immersed in nature; a forest, a beach, or even a park. Think about how that HUGE tree was once a tiny, whisper-thin sapling. That tree has withstood many seasons and many storms. So can you!

Nature is awesome, in the literal sense of the word. Nature is incredible and amazing. Plants, trees, bugs and animals just know when it’s time to wake up and get moving. If you dig deep, I believe you’ll realize that it’s time for change! Big or small, this is the time to make a transition, change your outlook on life. If something is not working for you, change it!

Throw open those windows, open your eyes to the possibilities, take a walk, do some thinking. This is a time of transition.
